Yoo Sushi Information

Tucked along Douglas Ave in Providence, Yoo Sushi feels like one of those neighborhood spots you almost want to keep to yourself. The location at 412 Douglas Ave isn’t flashy, but that’s part of the charm-it’s easy to walk past if you’re not paying attention, yet once inside, the steady flow of regulars makes it clear this place has earned its reputation through consistently solid food and service.

The menu leans into a wide range of Japanese favorites, from classic maki rolls to more creative specialty combinations. On a recent visit, the spicy tuna roll stood out for its balance-the fish tasted fresh, and the spice didn’t overpower the natural flavor. The salmon nigiri had that clean, buttery texture you expect from good-quality cuts, something that often separates an average sushi spot from one that takes sourcing seriously. While it’s hard to verify exactly where the fish is sourced from, the quality aligns with what you’d expect from reputable suppliers used by many mid-tier sushi restaurants across the U.S.

Portion sizes are fair, especially considering the price point, which feels reasonable for Providence. The kitchen also offers cooked options like teriyaki and tempura, making the menu accessible even for diners who aren’t fully into raw fish. The shrimp tempura, in particular, came out crisp without being greasy, suggesting careful attention to oil temperature and timing-details that don’t always get handled well in smaller establishments.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. It’s not a high-end sushi bar with dim lighting and minimalist decor, but rather a comfortable, casual dining room where you can settle in without feeling rushed. That said, seating can be limited during peak hours, and it’s worth planning ahead if you’re visiting on a weekend evening.

Service tends to be friendly and efficient, though it can slow down slightly when the restaurant gets busy. Staff are approachable and happy to make recommendations, which is helpful if you’re navigating the menu for the first time. Based on local reviews and personal experience, consistency seems to be one of Yoo Sushi’s stronger points-orders arrive as expected, and the quality doesn’t fluctuate much from visit to visit.

For a place that doesn’t rely on flashy presentation or heavy marketing, Yoo Sushi delivers where it matters most: fresh ingredients, a dependable menu, and a welcoming local vibe that keeps people coming back.

What People's Say About Place

I've never really cared much for sushi until I tried Tee Jay Sushi in Ft. Lauderdale which made me a huge fan and ordered from there regularly. This is my first time here at Yoo sushi, it was okay but it doesn't compare and doesn't Wow me. My rating of course is based off one order so I'll have to try these guys again in the future for a better comparison. Pictured is the American Dream roll.

Everything was delicious. The Godzilla Roll was for fantastic! The Thai Style Chicken Fried Rice was spicy, but not overwhelmingly spicy. The Chicken Katsu was such a huge portion, crunchy and juicy that there was plenty for 3 people to enjoy. Recommending to everyone to come to this place when possible.

This is my favorite take out Japanese restaurant! The food is always hot, fresh and I get it delivered and it is always on time. I am a huge fan of their appetizers, the sushi, and the box dinners. I have never had a bad dish from here. I highly recommend this place!

I ordered take out online. I selected a 15 minute option as I was sitting outside in my vehicle. I ordered the spicy salmon Maki rolls, California rolls and salmon Avocado rolls with a side of spring rolls a juice and a pop. The price was about $24 and I got a 15% discount for paying cash. The food was ready on time, the lady at cash was very friendly as was the gentleman preparing the food. I will most definitely order from here again! It could not have been any better! (We ate 4 spring rolls before taking the picture) Most importantly the food was delicious! The restaurant was very clean and appealing.

Found this little hidden gem on our way out of Prov on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered: Yoo Roll (45), Volcano Roll (13), & Rainbow Roll (11) also the Thai Ice Tea The sushi was SO delicious and fresh and the presentation was beautiful. Tea was also good. Atmosphere is so simple & quiet, a relaxing place to wait for your sushi. I can see this place is busy with online/phone orders and door dash, the inside service was a bit slow, (hence the 4 stars) but once we got that delicious platter we forgot about the wait. It was worth the wait

I went in and didn’t know what to order . The lady gave me a suggestion and I’m glad I got it . Food is amazing . Crab Rangoon better the Chinese restaurant

The food is really good. I went for the first time. I always drove by and wanted try it out so I decided to try it today. Had the Chick Donburi and Fried Takoyaki Balls. This is my new spot for takoyaki. 6 pieces and very delicious.

I recently ordered 2 lunch specials from here and I loved it! The spicy crunchy tuna and salmon avocado roll are my favorites. I Highly recommend this place
